Intralymphatic Immunotherapy will become a fast, safe and effective treatment for grass pollen allergic rhinitis

AITSU provides support to bring marketed products for subcutaneous allergen immunotherapy to the market as treatment with intralymphatic immunotherapy.

With three injections over two months, Intralymphatic Immunotherapy is a fast, safe and effective alternative to existing allergen immunotherapy treatments like subcutaneous and sublingual immunotherapy that typically take three years.

AITSU has experience in intralymphatic immunotherapy from five clinical trials;

A pilot trial with seven patients where we found an increased number of plasmacells in circulation seven days after ILIT treatment (EudraCT 2012-005227-33) published in CTA

A double blind randomised placebo controlled trial in which we found no effect of a booster injection one year after ILIT treatment (EudraCT 2012-005227-33) published in JACI

A learning trial in which we explored how easy the skills to perform ILIT are acquired by naïve physicians (EudraCT 2014-004031-40), published in CEA and in which we showed that there is a dose response of treatment to the number of successful injections, published in Allergy.

A titration trial in which we sought to optimise the amount of native llergen required to optimally treat patients (EudraCT 2020-005823-35), published in Allergy with a Youtube video descirbing the findings.

A multicener international trial in Sweden and Denmark (EudraCT Nr 2020-001060-28) and Switzerland (BASEC Nr 2021-002301), that was completed in 2024.

We have proposed grading schemes for intralymphatic injection quality in Allergy in 2021 and 2024.

We have reviewed the state and options of ILIT in a state of the art article in International Archives of Allergy and Immunology, and more recently reviewed clinical trials performed in Current Opinion of Allergy and Immunology
